'Overflow', Waterfall, Bonsai Sculpture
The sculpture is planted alongside a bonsai tree. Bonsai trees grow along the restraints of predetermined bamboo moulds (flow of water); recreation of a natural phenomenon. Considering 'Water' as a pure element, it brings cleansing.
I purposely used a serendipitous approach in creating the main body of the steel structure; I did this as I wanted to utilise a Japanese principle called Wabi-Sabi, which purposely uses the unpredictability of nature as the driving force for creation.
I was inspired by one of my favourite artists: Olafur Eliasson's 'Waterfall 2004'.
